eid al-fitr

Eid-ul-Fitr is our celebration of service and obedience to Allaah . It is our Thanksgiving Day where we assemble as brothers and sisters in Islam to joyously offer our gratitude to Allaah. But our thanksgiving is not confined to only ritual ibaadah and verbal expressions. It goes far beyond.

eid of sacrifice

Selfish people cannot sacrifice, and hence cannot truly love. True love always requires sacrifice. The greater and more profound the love – the greater the sacrifice it commands. In this sense it is only the brave and courageous, only those who can ‘give’, and ‘take’ nothing in return, who can truly love, for only they can truly sacrifice

Only those who overflow with love will build the happy and enlightened world of the future. Their lips smiling with love, their hearts brimming with love, their eyes radiating love and the most tender human feelings-such are the heroes of love who always receive messages of love from the rising and setting of the sun and from the flickering light of the stars and the blossoming of the rose.

fasting and taqwa

The Qur'an states that a human-being cannot attain proximity to Allaah and paradise unless the lowly bestial desires are restrained. The ‘ulama' of islam have said, "Bodily strength depends on food and drink, whereas spiritual strength depends on going hungry and thirsty. In Allah’s domain, hunger is a divine food." The cycle of eating requires preoccupations with the self, and anyone who is preoccupied with himself becomes obstructed and hidden from Allaah, the Beloved.

fathers & daughters

The Prophet of Islam [s] made Paradise the recompense of every father who conducts himself well with his daughters, is compassionate with them, has patience in raising them, provides for their education and moral training, and observes Allah’s commands concerning them until they come of age and are married to worthy spouses. In fact he [s] made the privileged place of this type of father next to only him in Paradise : “Whoever cherishingly brings up girls till they reach the age of maturity, he and I will be such on the Day of Resurrection ,” and he joined his blessed fingers tightly together.
